Founded by Alexander the Great in 332 BC, Alexandria served as Egypt’s capital for more than three centuries and became a center of learning, trade, and Greco-Roman culture. Unlike Upper Egypt’s monumental temple circuit, Alexandria offers a distinct historical lens—shaped by Hellenistic, Roman, and later Islamic influences—making it a meaningful complement to the main tour.
