Lost Cities of the Maya: Chichen Itza Equinox Tour (7 days)

An Private Expedition with Anyextee

March 17–23, 2027 | 7 Days / 6 Nights

Overview & Date

Join Anyextee on a 7-day expedition through the Yucatán, culminating in one of the most extraordinary celestial events in the ancient world—the equinox at Chichen Itza. As the sun descends in precise alignment, witness the legendary “descent of Kukulcán,” where light and shadow form a serpent along the pyramid’s staircase.

Beyond the equinox, this journey explores the lost cities of the Maya—from jungle-clad ruins to sacred ceremonial centers—offering deeper insight into their architectural, symbolic, and cosmological traditions.

As part of the experience, participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a private, traditional shamanic ceremony, providing a rare cultural connection to living indigenous practices of the region.

This is not a typical tour. It is a private expedition designed for those seeking a more immersive, on-the-ground perspective of the ancient Maya world.

LOST CITIES OF THE MAYA: CHICHEN ITZA EQUINOX TOUR with Anyextee (7 days)

Why This Journey

Because timing changes everything.

On most days, Chichen Itza is a monument.
On the equinox, it becomes an event.

As the sun lowers in the afternoon sky, the pyramid comes alive—revealing the descent of Kukulcán through a precise interplay of light and shadow. This is not something you simply visit. It is something you witness.

Surrounding this moment is a broader journey through the lost cities of the Maya—each site adding another layer to a civilization whose knowledge was embedded in stone, landscape, and sky.

This expedition is designed for those who want to go beyond the surface—and experience these places with context, intention, and depth.

What makes this journey different

This is not a standard Yucatán tour. It’s a precision-timed expedition built around rare access, meaningful cultural experiences, and deeper on-the-ground insight.

Timed to the Equinox
Most visitors see Chichen Itza as a monument. You’ll be there when it becomes an event—witnessing the descent of Kukulcán as light and shadow align with the pyramid’s design.

Exclusive Cultural Access
Take part in a private traditional Maya ceremony held on ancient grounds before Uxmal opens to the public—a rare opportunity to experience the site in stillness, without crowds.

Authentic Local Experience
Share a traditional Maya breakfast inside a thatched-roof home, offering a direct connection to living culture beyond curated tourist settings.

Sites Beyond the Tourist Trail
Explore lesser-visited locations such as Xul and Xkichmook, places most travelers—and even other tour operators—never reach.

Led by Anyextee
This is not a scripted guide experience. It’s an expedition grounded in field research, firsthand observation, and a balanced perspective that goes beyond surface-level explanations.

Deeper Context, Not Just Sightseeing
From architectural alignment to symbolic patterns embedded in stone, this journey is designed to explore how and why these sites were built—not just what they are.

Chichén-Itzá-México-Alta-Calidad-Agencia-de-Viajes-1024x683

Today is the defining moment of the journey.

Return to Chichen Itza for the spring equinox, when the pyramid of Kukulcán reveals one of the most extraordinary light-and-shadow phenomena in the ancient world.

As the afternoon sun begins to descend, position yourself along the staircase as triangular shadows emerge—gradually forming the body of a serpent that appears to move down the pyramid, connecting with the carved head at its base. This is the legendary descent of Kukulcán, a precise alignment of architecture, astronomy, and symbolism.

You will be guided into the optimal viewing position and timing window to experience the phenomenon at its peak—something most visitors miss without proper positioning.

Beyond the spectacle itself, this is an opportunity to observe the site in a completely different context—where the pyramid is not just a structure, but an active expression of ancient knowledge.

From there, continue along the Ruta Puuc, exploring a series of refined and lesser-visited sites known for their intricate stonework and symbolic design. Visit Labna, home to the iconic arch, followed by Sayil, with its expansive multi-level palace, and Xlapak, a quieter site often experienced in near solitude.
